-Bill (who also reads the rules ) Street Prepared rules: 15.9 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Vehicles may only exceed the allowances of 13.9 as specified herein. A. Any ignition setting, adjustment, or system may be used. A stock ignition sensor on a cam cover may be removed, and the hole may be plugged. This modification may serve no other purpose. B. The make, model number, and size of the battery may be changed but not its voltage. C. Relocation of the battery or batteries is permitted but not into the passenger compartment. If the battery is relocated and the original battery tray can be removed by simply unbolting it, the tray may be removed, or relocated with the battery. Holes may be drilled for mounting or passage of cables. Longer cables may be substituted to permit relocation. The number of battery or batteries may not be changed from stock. The area behind the rearmost seat is not considered to be within the passenger compartment.

Quite honestly, relocating the battery or doing ANY electrical work is something I dread more than being called back into the Marines and sent over to Iraq... I hate electrical work with a passion and will do anything possible to not have to do it... If that means not having an advantage in SM, so be it. I'll run all day with a disadvantage and not care the slightest. If it means crappy fuel economy or poor performance, whatever I couldn't care... Just so long as I don't have to start messing with electricity I am happy... Why do youguys think it took me over a year to do my HID low beam swap? Because I really hated even looking at them...

You're better off just using a lightweight battery instead of relocating. The problem with relocating is you're adding weight with the longer cables.
You'll be faster with lighter weight than perfect balance.

Sure dropping to a 25lbs battery is nice but you can also remove 15lbs of things from under the hood in 10 minutes and still remain legal for stock and that cost ya nothing! Moving weight from the nose to behind those front wheels is the most beneficial thing you can do for an SVX. |
