Ok. So I cleaned the MAF yesterday with electronics cleaner and it made the problem twice as bad. So it stands to reason my MAF just pooped. now it completely stalls even while moving and has become a huge pain in my ass I now have a new redline of 5k. It's like it's hitting the rev limiter, it just keeps bouncing off of 5K.

Problem solved. I got a MAF today, and I now have power I never knew the car had. It runs flawless now and requires so little throttle to move now. It really feels like it has a lot more torque now. I've suspected my MAF of being on it's way out since I bought the car, so I wasn't really surprised. But anyway, thanks for all of your guys help. Jason

Jason,
Glad to hear you got the problem sorted out, Did you buy a new maf, or get a used one (such as that offered up by Tom?)
If it was new what are they running these days?

Also on an unrelated note, did you pick up snow shoes yet??
(Im looking at ordering some before Mon, either from Mavis or Vulcan)

Are you still using the K&N air filter?

One thing about k&n style (oiled) filters is that most problems arise when people use too much oil on the filter when re-oiling them and/or don't let them sit long enough afterwords prior to reinstalling them and running the engine. The oil needs to soak in to the filter material so it doesn't get sucked into the system and screw up maf's (and other items)

I got a used one from svxfiles and it works so GOOD. I think I'm falling in love with the car all over again. I still haven't gotten tires and mine are real bad, But I'm not gonna be able to afford any for at least 4-6 more weeks after I get back to work. I just hope they don't get to cords by then.

I'm gonna stick with my K&N. I've always had K&N filters and I believe for as long as you go easy on the oil there fine. I on the other hand, Somehow manage to overoil mine a few months ago. I have no idea how. I felt I hardly put any on it and the next day, It's leaking out of the bottom of the airbox. But the MAF acted the same as always until christmas day when it started stalling and went to hell. It's always had some idle problems that I figured were the MAF, I was just waiting for it to completely go. The only thing left now is in the past month Once it's warmed up if it sits and idles for a few seconds the idle will raise to 1K and stay there for at least 5 minutes or so. It's never done that before and I figured it was the MAF, But it still does it with the new one. But everything else is running great now. I just need front end links, a ball joint, and some tie rods and it will be on to bigger mods.

I'm pretty sure my car's heading into problems like this. It was really bad when I had an exhaust leak, now it's just slightly noticeable. It used to stall all the time but now it hasn't done it once.. just hesitates. I think I may look for a maf sensor now before it gets worse again.
