Significant Technical Input
O.K. the problem still exists

Just tried to post a response with diagrams. Naturally IE stalled so I decided to let it run for a while and see if it would eventually make it through. After about ten minutes I came back to find my CPU overheat alarm going crazy. It seems IE was pulling 98% (according to Task Mgr.) of the CPUs cycles. This is the only time this has ever happened, with any program, on any site. What gives?

p.s. It does the same on all three of my computers here at the house, with 98, W2k & XP.

I'm not sure when it happened but I attribute it to the change in forum software from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8.

I've had it stall out occasionally when I quote other posts but never crash.

Because it doesn't happen regularly, I would attribute it to a fluke in the Windows code. IE tends to crash on occasion anyways.

Solution: Get FireFox.

It occasionally happened to me too.

When back to the old format forum, I never had any problems.

I find that when it is a short quote with a short response, then it works fine. As soon as either the quote or the response to the quote is longer, then it often stalls. A msg with no quote usually goes with no probs at all, even when long. Can't remember the last stall with no quote.

I've pretty much given up on it from a user's workaround perspective. When quoting something, I copy to notepad or word just before hitting the submit or preview button. If it goes, great! If not, then I force end the task, open a fresh ie window, paste it back in, delete the quotation command at the beginning and end of the quote and simply indicate with plain text that it is a quote. Then it always works.

Guess we wait for the next upgrade.

Significant Technical Input
Don't understand people having probs w/IE or windows anymore. I'm all over the place and the only reboots I ever do are after upgrades. The laptop is the only one that gets turned off. I haven't seen a blue screen or lock-up in years, since using UPSs. Even when it hogged the cycles I could still exit without rebooting. I'm just saying there's an issue here, that I don't experience anywhere else.

What really torqued me was spending an hour or so on text and diagrams and then have them disappear. Of course I still have the diagrams but the text is lost (and my motivation, too.)

Huh! I thought it was just me. Anytime my response gets wordy, it freezes when I click "submit reply". It never freezes on a short reply.

Maybe the new version has a Post-ho' firewall built in.

On a serious note, considering the type of site, some of the replies have to be lengthy if a task instruction is required.

It happends to you too. It takes me a long time to type a reply, the fingers freezes up after a while, and need a rest, get it done ,press submit, the button stays in, and nothing. .

I have since found, that when this happends, I press Ctrl+Esc, together, wait a few minuits, and it recovers and posts the message.

Its Back.

Been trying to post a reply to the Exhaust thread in the Modified forum, for the last 3 days. Tried two different comps, locks up every time. A fuggan waste of time. I'm off.

Take out the brackets surrounding the first QUOTE command and do it something like this post. Might not look as pretty, but it works.

Thanks Bipa, removed all traces of Quote, and did a quick two piece paste and post. Got it there, Shure wish they would fix the bug or go back to the previous version, had no trouble there.
