Minor Upper radiator hose problem

After replacing the upper radiator hose, I am having some problems with it wanting to slip off. When I replaced it, one of the original clamps had to be replaced, and was replaced with a generic radiator clamp. Seems like when it is tightened it makes the hose want to pull away. Anyhow, I thought I had it on pretty good, but after checking it a few weeks later it looks like it has slipped down again, and is almost ready to come off. Is there anything I should put on the end so that it stays in place better, or do I just need to get a new Subaru type clamp for it?

A generic hose clamp should work just fine. Are you sure you've got the right hose on there? Can't imagine why one of proper size would want to just slip off.

I was wondering about the hose too. I have never had any problems with that.

I think now that my original problem was the radiator cap. I open the hood one day to find that the upper hose was collapsed, so I figured I had to replace it. After I replaced it, is when it slipped off while driving. After I got it back on, I had someone do a test, it and they replaced the radiator cap (said it wasn't holding under pressure). Since then the hose looks like it is slipping again. I guess I can go back to the original hose since it appears the original problem was with the cap not the hose. I believe the new hose is the right one, it was ordered from Subaruparts.com and looks just like the original.

My advice would be to keep the fresh hose on the car and move on. The old one can't have had much life left in it anyway. There are better quality clamps available at very reasonable prices for a dressier ,tighter application as well.
