Grand Cherokee 2000+

hey guys, my dad want to replace his old grand (1995) with the newer body model. he is looking for 2000+ Grand Cherokee V6 (of course not V8), any recommendations concerning its 4WD options (he needs a fully loaded one, limited, but we don't know much about its 4WD system...), any advice?

i have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee limited v8 w/ quadra-drive II. the quadra-drive was optional and it is full-time 4wd. it operates normally in 4wd-hi and can be switched to 4wd-lo if necessary. the standard 4wd system is called selec-trac. under normal conditions, it operates normally in rwd and can be switched to 4wd-hi or 4wd-lo.

His current 95 is quadra drive, it swallows fuel like hell and adding to that the low gears are a pain in the *ss when using them. when you wanna put low 2 it automatically switches to 1...
you feel like your neck gonna break especially when u are going in a downstream..
So basically the new model is much similar like the old one concerning the 4WD options... i am gonna stick with the rwd model...
how much this car is running in the states? over here it is for $17,000 for the 2001. customs over here are very high.

In 100mi radius of where I live a 2001 Grand Cherokee ranges in price from $9800 to $19700 or so. Not sure this really helps you though. To give you a better idea including the options and mileage you might be looking for, check out www.autotrader.com

quadra-drive II is upgraded from the older qudra-drive system, i'm just not sure how. one thing that wasn't upgraded is fuel efficiency. we average just over 15 US mpg since we've had it , but that includes a fair amount of mileage towing a pop-up camper.

as of today, it is for sale. kelly blue book says its worth $18,750 and i'd like to get close to that for it.

I had a 97 Grand Cherokee V8 that was "Quadra-Trac" I wasnt aware "Quadra-Drive" was available before 2000. I was getting about 15mpg in that sucker. Also didnt know you could get them with a V6. I guess I've been in the dark!

I dunno, my dad's is a 95 V6 will AWD. the shifting gears of the 4WD are the low, the neutral and the full AWD shifter...

Dude, if ya want a Grand cherokee that doesn't swallow fuel as fast as the V-8 then ya may be in luck... In Australia, Jeep has had the Grand Cherokee CDI available for about 2 years now... See if this version is available over there where you are... It is pretty much a Grand Cherokee with a 5-Cylinder Turbo, Intercooled Commonrail Direct Injection Diesel engine made by Mercedes-Benz. All the reviews that I have read show this think not loosing very much on-road performance to the Inline 6 engine that we are all so accustome to. However, it gains nearly 2x the fuel econmy and torque is higher than the V-8... Might want to check it out man!!! This engine is apparently the most Hightec Turbo-Diesel engine currently available in a road car!! I really think that if ya can get this version you would be extremly pleased....

Diesel cars in Lebanon are not street legal. only buses and 6 wheelers are allowed to use diesel fuel.

i would if it could tow. i'd love to get my hands on a nissan armada, but i'm looking to get out of a car payment. if i can sell the jeep for what i owe on it, i'll be looking for a mid 90s or newer ford, chevy, or dodge full size truck or suv for towing.

Ken Rules!!!!!! Get one Ken, if you can stand the lousey MPG. It is a nice truck. If I could do the payments, I would have gotten one of those over my Pathfinder.

epa rates it at 13 city / 18 highway. it pretty much coincides with the jeep mileage.
