Cool Re: typical battery life?

Is there a potential drainage source that i'm not aware of? Could this be alternator related? any info appreciated.

As no one has yet mentioned the infamous drooping sunvisor frayed wire syndrome as a possible drain, allow me to do so.
Back to the original question, "How long does a typical battery last"? Two days ago I replaced the "original" black box that was in the car when I bought it almost 4 years ago. The "Prostart" (whatever that is) battery was at least a year old then. I also managed to leave the interior spot light on for two days, which I do believe contributed to the demise of this no-name work-horse.
I installed a "slightly used" genuine Subaru battery I got from SVXcess when he upgraded to an Optima. I'm sure this thing will last eight years unless the bearings go bad prematurely.

Ron.
