Thats about as allrod as you can get.

Thanks for the kind words about my "Beater". It was at stock hight with half worn RE92's on it and I had to drag in up AND DOWN my driveway one whole winter with the Loyal. So I tossed in some Outback struts and oversized tires so it can make it around my drivway by it's self now.

More pics in Locker.

I'm well aware of my limitations as regards winter driving and would have no problem driving my SVX in the snow (we don't get that much, anyway), if that's all there was to the matter. But there are complications:

-- Snow here often starts with a base of freezing rain or sleet. I've seen many a car with snow belt tags in a ditch.

-- Road salt. I don't care how diligently you wash your car, that stuff gets places you'll never reach and does irreparable damage. (And yes, they do use it here.)

-- Local drivers who think they must keep their foot on their brake AT ALL TIMES lest their car suddenly and inexplicably careen out of control, flip end-over-end and explode in a fireball.

This is why I'm looking for a beater.

The one thing that really annoys me about people driving in snow is that they dont know how to! If you come here you will see people in SUV's literally going 50 MPH on the main roads here when theres a blizzard outside....then the other ppl in cars get scared and brake too hard and skid and cause accidents. Took me all but one day to learn and be an expert in snow driving.....that and i learned with an 02 accord which i might add is absolutley horrible in snow. Car is too light and steering too loose. SVX is awesome because it feels like a tank.

Very, very true Tom. When I lived in Northern VA, I used to be scared driving down the highway on a snowy day with 4x4 SUVs blazing by...

Actually I think a Chevy S-10 with an automatic is the worst vehicle in the snow.

We had some thick wet snow on last 2 days. Roads were pretty icy. It was a fun to drive. The acceleration on the snow of the SVX is wonderful.
