TCU Connectors

Anyone have the right way to disconnect the connectors from the TCU? Got under the dash this evening - no mean feat at my age - found the TCU and then - once I figured out how to get a hand up on the connectors - I couldn't get them to come undone. There seemed to be a release "bar" along one side of the connector that I could push in, but the connectors still wouldn't easily come out, and I didn't want to force the issue at this time.
Suggestions? (UberRoo, I know you know the answer!)
-Bill

There's nothing beside the release bar (on my car anyway), just very hard to pull off.

Lee,
Thanks...now that the car is down for radiator replacement, I've got now reason not to pull hard on the connectors...

David,
That would be before or after I cracked my knuckles on the steering column?

Little bit of both.

Wonder if it would be easier to unplug if you unbolt the ECU/TCU and try to remove the assembly to get better access to the plugs?

David,
That's exactly what I was planning on doing (also gives me an excuse to install the Stage 1 chip in my ECU)

Hi Bill
Oh yeah those connectors are on there tight. I got mine off with help of a small flat blade screw driver. I held the release and then pried along the edge of the connector moving a little bit each time and keeping it even. It was still hard to move.

John,
I think you've just convinced me to unbolt the TCU/ECU combo before I try to get the connector out of the TCU -- as hard as it was to get my hands up in there, I can just imagine what fun it would be to add a screwdriver to the mix
