60,000 Mile Service (Timing Belt, Etc.)
In addition to having to replace the rear wheel bearings, my car will soon reach the 60K mile mark, at which point (according to the maintenance manual that came with the car) the timing belt will need to be replaced.
I had already planned to go through the car comprehensively at this point, changing all fluids, filters, etc. In keeping with my general philosophy of "do it all at once and cry once (and copiously)," I wonder if someone can point me to prior threads offering a how to on timing belt replacement and any other odds and ends that should be attended to while I'm working on that project. I've already searched the site and found much helpful information on the wheel bearing replacement project, but have yet to find comparable information on the timing belt project. I have prior experience changing timing belts and tensioners on Alfa Romeo V-6 engines, and I'm hoping that the SVX project should be simple in comparison. Thanks for any and all help. i hit 65,000, but i'm going to wait until around probably 75,000 to do the timing belt judging by the condition of the other belts. non-interference engine =
you'll want to do the water pump at that time, and other belts, maybe rad hoses and t-stat, temp sensor.....
