left and right blinker problem

i am wondering where the flasher unit or relay is located, what colour it is and how easy is it to do...my left and rights don't work and it is a big problem..my dealership has had it backordered for like 5 months and of course i am pissed ...any suggestions to my dilemna?
is there a simple solution...i am not that handy but am learning w the help of a good friend (car guru)...thanks alot and subaru svx owners do indeed rock
ps my 4ways work sometimes..

If your flashers work, it may not be the relay. Check fuse #1 (especially if your backups aren't working. They're on the same fuse). I've got the relay diagram at home. If the fuse isn't the problem, I'll try to post it tonight.

This is where I think you'll find your flasher...the relay is under the dash, looks almost like it's bolted to the steering column...if you get your head under there and look straight up it is visible just at the edge of the dash.

Thanks for all your help
the problem turned out to be the defroster/ flasher rail switch...the contacts inside that plastic thing wore out..i found and new one and presto!
