My mom took her Honda to Jiffy Lube once. They used an air wrench to put in the oil pan bolt. It leaked. They claimed that it wasn't their fault. I kept *****ing. They finally told me that they did use an air wrench, but because the car was 5 years old it could ahve been caused by anybody so they'd only pay for HALF of the repair bill. I got it fixed at a local shop, told them about it, and had them double the labor and parts costs. I then took Jiffy Lube the bill. Bastards. I'd avoid the quick change places at all costs, plus they don't do synthetic!

Laying under the car is the most quiet I can get on a weekend. Sometimes I'll stretch an oil change out to a couple hours just for the relaxation.

On my last oil change, i didnt even know it happened.
a "friend" borrowed my car and took it out of town. when he came back, aside from the alarm malfunctioning and the power window being unfixed, it was leaking oil. the bastard changed it with a friend, didnt change the filter, and didnt tighten the drain plug.
plus the oil that was in there had like 500 miles on it, and he knew that. i dont trust anyone to do anything to my car without me being there.

oil change where?

I usually have an independent Japanese mechanic do it, with Castrol synthetic oil. Costs me about $50, but the oil cost is over $35 of that. For the extra $15, I get to have a master mechanic road test my car every 3000-5000 miles.
My 96 is a daily driver, has over 76k now, and is still running strong.

I'm not planning on replacing it in the near future!

Well i am going to get an Independant mechanic to do my Tranny gear stuff though. but my oil change i do my self.

I will be using purple royal oil in the motor maybe.

But i will be using the Redline Tranny fluid since they have a Dextron 2 product. i might just use the redline oil as well.

re: mobil 1

i use mobil 1 synthetic for both engine oil and atf.

i went to both redline and mobil1's website and mobil1's numbers look a bit higher than redline's. assuming higher numbers in flashpoint (12 degrees Celsius) and viscosity is better that is...i could be wrong.

Avoid the quik change places, sure they vacume your car too, but they will also strip out your drain plug or blow up your motor for you.
