He's not right, technically, and this is why.

Yes, '94 and later SVXs have an electronic speed limiter, but it's not the rev limiter. There's a very simple explanation why a rev limiter wouldn't curb an SVX's top speed:

The '92 and '93 SVXs are only limited in their top speed by drag.

I seem to remember reading that the SVX's gearing, if the car had enough power, would allow it to reach over 200mph before redlining.

I'm almost certain that all model-year SVXs have a rev limiter and '94-up SVXs have speed governing circuitry, as well.

Whether or not those ECUs also contain features that hinder those cars' performance, I don't know - but I suspect that's the case.

I would think that the ECU would have an engine rev limiter in all models. Every modern car uses it to protect the engine. The speed limiter is programmed into the TCU, which uses the engine torque line to tell the ECU to back off the power, as it does with wheel spin.

Hey, Alan - did you see that BMW has co-opted the landshark theme for the new Z4 ad campaign? You 928 guys gonna sue?
my old Lesabre T-Type gave me enough character for 3 people.
i never understood why BMW's were also referred to as sharks - the 928 actually LOOKS like a shark, but i don't see the connection with BMW.
