A very productice day

In the midst of writers block for an 8000 word research paper, i somehow found myself wandering to walmart, buying some Syntec and a filter, and changing my oil while it was a blizzard and 20 degrees out( dont worry, i had the garage shut and a karosine heater, but it was still cold!). I spent three hours dusting, cleaning in the engine bay, and replacing my stock air filter box(scc is agreeing to over look the 5psd, as long as i dont have an other points to the car for "stock" class.) Well now im back to the paper, and as you can see its 10:45 and ive got far from waht i need done......What do you guys do when you have writers block?

The problem may OBE, but here's what I do.

Take a walk, start thinking about an outline of what I would write. Keep filling in details mentally until I can't hold much more in my mind. Rush back and start banging keys either to actually make the outline, or just start writing depending on the scope of the task.

Mind map

Use a mind map. Start in the centre of a landscape A4. Write the title or central tenet of your thesis. Use mental imagery to add branches and idea bubbles around the central plot. Each extra idea or bubble you add, you can parse it or add additional info.

When you have totally exploded and expanded on the central idea, you can go back over with colour to highlight linking sectors.

You can also assign priority and volume to each area before you start to write. In addition, with most of your ideas outlined before you on the tree structure, you can make very useful decisions as to how to sequence or structure your whole paper for coherence and impact.

If that doesn't work, change the plugs. That oughta get the grey matter working!

Oh Kay...

Don't forget before you start, have a look in the mirror, and smile. Understand that the guy smiling at you CAN DO IT !!!

Yeah!!!
