Re: 30 mpg svx
I averaged 31 mpg with my '92 (97,000) on a trip from W. Virginia to Texas in the middle of summer with no a/c, windows down, and car packed so full with stuff the windshield is all I could see out.

How fast were you driving? Cruise control? Premium fuel? By 31, do you mean 30.6? Any special lubricants or mods? PS. My dad lived in Northeast Texas for the past 20 years

Re: 30 mpg svx
It was actually 31.2, regular fuel, cruise at 70, no mods or special lube. It was actually really low on oil and shortly after that spun a rod bearing cause it was so starved.

Re: 30 mpg svx
I've been off the forum for a couple of weeks. I keep the shifter in "3" in town, so my normal mileage is about 20mpg. On the highway, sticking to the sweet spot at 85 and in "4" I get close to 30 mpg. Not difficult, but a couple of traffic congealments, and it's down to 22, 23.
Joe, we've got a vehicle in the Petersen Museum that may fit your wheelchair requirements. It is called the Scripps-Booth Eight. It was built in 1913, has a V-8 under the hood, runs on two wheels, with auto drop-down stabilizing wheels when under 5 mph. Driver sits in the center, steers with a wheel, two passengers sit in the back seat. It's truly terrifying. It is part of a show called "Misfits of Motoring," things that seemed like a good idea at the time. This is a shot of our curator giving the docents some idea of the vehicle. You can see one of the stabilizing wheels on the side. The copper tubes are the radiator. This was loaned to us by the National Automobile Museum in Reno, and it is the only one in existence.
