Anyone ever seen one of these?

I came across this Subaru while looking around on Craigslist today. Anyone ever seen one before? http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/1070640091.html

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these?

Yes, they are SUPER RARE and I would jump all over this if it wasn't so far away. I would drive it for the wierd factor. It's actually a Sambar the 360 was a micro car. Here's a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1990SambarFront.jpg

Lakewood is basically in Tacoma WA about 5 miles from me.
I think I might call and take a look at it.

Have you seen it, subaru92svx?

Keep in mind... if you're more than 5'6", you pretty much won't fit in one. Ever see a VW microbus? These are like 3/4 scale microbusses.

No, I haven't actually looked at it. I just posted it because I have never seen one and thought it was funny.

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these?

very nice... Actually Subaru has been making decent kei cars, Samber is one of them. Up till today the Samber has been using it's rear engine layout. I think it's flat 4 in there? That's why it sounds smooth and quiet compare to other kei trucks. The Samber is the face of delivery truck in Japan. It's been loved over decades.

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these?

That's an excellent price for one in that condition.
The engine is a 360cc 2 stroke 2 cylinder.
It will fit in the bed of a full size pickup.

Yikes. Looks downright dangerous.

Paint it fire engine red with yellow wheels and they'll let you into Shriners' parades.

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these?

Sambars are all inline engines as are every kei car I've ever seen. Its a shame our gov't doesn't get the need for such a vehicle. It would put an end to the crappy mules and like atvs out there and would keep many from needing a full size pickup. Payload of the keis can go as high as 3/4 ton. More than enough for the average home depot owner. Cost less than 10k new and are perfectly fine for non highway use. Sure it might not be as safe as a Excursion but that is simply because of all the fat a@@es who need a gym membership as much as they need a capt. chair (sorry Jay!).

Oh and the 360 isn't all that rare. There are as many of 'em around today in the US as there are SVXs. Trucks and Vans are a little less common but their out there. Just don't buy a truck or van with a broken windshield as you can't get the glass period. Brake parts are another big issue with the 360.

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these?

Wow, that one's in great condition. I've seen a few of these driving around at Subaru shows over the years, but nothing close to this nice.

And yes, you definitely have to be small to drive one of these old ones, the roofline is shorter than the SVX, but with truck style seats inside.

An additional head-turning feature is that they, like the 360 coupe, have suicide doors.

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these?

Eg33 in one sounds cool. Thought of putting a EJ or EG in a lil domingo Van. But They have all seemed to all pretty much disapeared off the roads in the last few years.
If I ever found a 360 minus a motor i would fit a motorbike motor in

Re: Anyone ever seen one of these?

When you show up to the track with a motor swapped bad boy version, it'll like blow women cloths off or something, right? torsion aside, the power to weight if one did get a big motor, has got to be ridiculous. I'd personally want to drop a 20B TT Wankel in that glorified golf cart, the ACCELERATION would be BONKERS!!
