1/2 O/T: '89 Subaru RX

Hi Guys..

I'm about to score my old RX back for like $300. I'm wondering if anyone here has enough experience with older Subies to be able to help talk me through a couple of repair procedures that I've never done.. Primarily: Figuring out why the car binds through turns. I'm told it's a U joint. How to I ascertain/isolate/repair this?

Thanks in advance..

-Adam

BUY IT! DRIVE IT! LOVE IT! That's a great deal. Its probably worth $1000 in its current condtion. I saw one at a dealer a while back. Had 280k on it and he still wanted $2300 for it. They are great cars and have a LSD so no slip! As for fixing it. I'll try to help as much as possible but I'm much better with the EA81 rather than the EA82. You'll want to check out this site and forum. Everyone is VERY helpful and friendly. Just don't tell them how much ya paid for it!

Bob-

Well, if you saw this car, you'd understand why I'm paying $300 for it. I bought it in '99 in PRISTINE condition, complete with a freshly rebuilt motor.. Two years later, the most I could get for it was $750. Too many off-roading excursions have left the exhaust menifols cracked and battered, and the undercarriage rusted to hell.. It'll still be a blast to have back though. Thanks for the link.. lots of good info there..

If you can't get it running right again you can always sell parts. I'm sure you could come up with $300 in parts of her.
