Nope. Many years ago there was a brand of shaving cream called 'Burma Shave'. Along the side of many roads would be small signs, each with one line of the ditty. The final sign was always 'Burma Shave'.

For the most part this site is free of "trolls" or "trolling" (us old guys see - http://www.altairiv.demon.co.uk/troll/trollfaq.html).

Verbal jousting takes second place to interest in the car...

Disagreeing and being disagreeable... (long post)

Who was it said there's a difference between honest disagreement and being disagreeable? Generally, I like the tone here. There's too much intolerance and dis-respect in our society as it is, and it's nice when a few places offer a respite.

Personally, my awareness of the SVX is no where near in line with my level of enjoyment, so it is good that I can feel safe to ask questions that might reveal my ignorance, knowing that those with a lot more insight will freely share their views without a patronizing attitude. That is most valuable to me, and, I think, increasingly rare.

Here is a politically charged comment inspired by working from October 2001 through June 2002 at Ground Zero. Freedom in general and free speech in particular are under attack around the world by those who can't handle these kinds of liberty. The question remains if we as free people can "handle" them. Personally, I believe we Americans could do a better job of preserving and exercizing both by proceeding with a reasonable amount of restraint. We could stand to work a tad harder in better listening and speaking to each other, finding that an "opponent" with a different perspective doesn't have to be an "enemy." Flaming people is, to me, a cheap shot attempt at hurting someone, or making them look stupid, in a way that is legal, but not really acceptable. The internet grants this potential to anyone who cares to use it, but I think on this site I've seen a consistent ability to avoid this kind of discourse, much to the credit of all who participate. Congratulations to those who can respond to caustic comments with calm wisdom. Such an approach is often beyond me!

Sorry for the length, and the preachy tone...

You should use "than" in this case.

What would Brian Boitano do if he was here right now?
He'd make a plan and he'd follow through, that's what Brian Boitano'd do.

When Brian Boitano was in the Olympics, skating for the gold,
he did two 'Salchows' and a 'Triple Lutz', while wearing a blindfold.

When Brian Boitano was in the Alps, fighting grizzly bears,
he used his magical fire-breath, and saved the maidens fair!

So what would Brian Boitano do, if he were here today?
I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two, that's what Brian Boitano'd do.

I want this V-chip out of me, it has stunted my vocabulary.

And I just want my mum, to stop fighting everyone...

for Wendy I'll be an activist too, cos that's what Brian Boitano'd do.

And what might Brian Boitano'd do? He'd call all the Kids in town,
and tell them to unite for truth, that's what Brian Boitano'd do.

When Brian Boitano travelled through time to the year 3010,
he fought the evil robot king, and saved the human race again.

And when Brian Boitano built the pyramids, he beat up Kubla Khan,

cos Brian Boitano doesn't take sh*t from a-ny-bo-dy,

so let's get all the kids together, and unite to stop our mums,
and we'll save Terrance and Phillip too, cos that's what Brian Boitano'd do...

and we'll save Terrance and Phillip too,
cos that's what Brian Boitano'd do.
cos that's what Brian Boitano'd do!

See, heres wghere I disagree. I think that yes, I've corrected people, POLITELY in the past. But then they ignore my POLITE correct posts and tell me I'm wrong. Thats when I get pissed off and call them names. IF people could admit when they're wrong more easily, everything would be cooler. I can admit when Iw as wrong.

Please do not make me quote you. Also, if/when people refuse to listen, just walk away. I am going to listen to my own words and I will not quote you.

I think this is all a relative matter. In the short time I've been a member of this comunity it has become a rather pleasant but time consuming hobby. I read all current posts and quite a few past postings. In all I am amazed at the overall pleasantness of this entire group and would have no problem opening my house to anyone of you and prepping the spare bedroom if you found your way to my area and had no hotel room. I'd go out of my way to assist with your cars where I could as well. I can't imagine having any personality problems and would feel comfortable just hanging out with any of you. And then comes Ca$h. Do I find him highly opinionated and occassionally obnoxious? yes. Do I roll my eyes and think "Oh boy, here we go again..." whenever I see the words "mopar" or "neon"? Yes. Do I think he is a bad guy? No. I see him as basically a very nice guy who would go out of his way for others.

I have heard of other groups where caustic, flaming posts are made all the time and in which there are a number of particularly nasty individuals I'd just as soon run over than pull over to help. Ca$h comes across as a pothole in an otherwise smooth stretch of scenic highway. Not really a bad pothole, just a small depression in fact, when compared to the potholes abundant here in PA. It's just a relative thing when cruising so peacefully on that smooth stretch that even a small pothole becomes an irritant.

Would I like to see him calm down a bit? Yes. Does he have a lot to offer? Definitely. There are times when I do not agree with members of my family and it's no big deal. I don't stop loving them and am always open to seeing them. That's how I see this group...as a big family full of different personalities. Is it really a waste of time for a nonsense, off topic post? Not for me. I can spot one right away and stop reading it if I feel it's a waste. I like the fact that folks here are open for an off-topic post everynow and then. It shows a closer relationship and open minds. It shows a group of friends passing along an obervation on life or some amusing anecdote. And that's what being a family/friends is about. It's also the greatest thing about this country we live in...freedom of speach and the right to like or dislike what we like as long as we do not abuse anyone else in the process.

As long as I see an attempt to "clean up his act" I have no problems with him and want him to stay around. I don't know what he has going on in his personal life but would like to think that you would not all drop me like a hot potato if i was stressing and went through an irritating spell of posts. Just my two cents...
