Theory.

I wonder if it might have any thing to do with Hotbar? (I've only had it a few days. Sure like those SVX pics.)

Significant Technical Input
It's happened to me once or twice also, but not for a week or two.

Try running Ad-Aware on your machine. It's free.

Went to download AdAware and got two pop-ups.

Make that 4 pop-ups -- two were hiding behind the main window.

Randy-

AdAware is not going to stop pop-ups in general, however, if people are logging in to THIS site and getting pop-ups, it leads me to wonder if they may have some little nefarious piece of scuzzware running on their machine, unbeknownst to them. AdAware will give you some really interesting information about who is depositing what (data mining / marketing / spyware / etc.) crap on your machine without your knowledge. And as for their pop-up ads, well, it is free software, after all...

I've been running Adaware for a couple of years . . .

. . . and it's been a terrific add on, but because my Dell is something of a resources hog (I'm at 44 right now, with hardly anything running), I generally don't turn it on until the first popup comes up. It does a terrific job however, and a second window simply will not come up unless I let it. Power, POWER, POWER , I LOVE IT!! (Moo ha ha ha - whatever!)

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

I used to use AdAware but have abandoned it. I noticed the AdAware bs some time ago - it'll find other's stuff (and nowhere near all of them) but bring some of its own along for the ride. Kinda like wiping out the competition...

For pop-ups I use Pop Up Killer, it's been abandoned by the author but it still works well. Occasionally a new type of pop up will surface that it won't recognize but you can train it to avoid it in the future. Just click on the icon in the systray and a listing of all current open pages shows, select the offending pop up and you'll never see it again. If you go to a site that uses legitimate pop ups simply click on the icon again and temporarily disable the killer.

It's becoming more difficult to locate a copy of it, if anyone would like to try it PM me and I'll send you a copy.

The ONLY way I'd put up with popups is if they were popups of pinups.
