Re: Benebob was in an accident

This is just horrible, and one of the many reasons that I feel alcohol is one of the worst drugs there is.

I hope Ben makes a speedy recovery. I'm guessing he'll be sitting out on this year's ski season, though.

Merry Christmas, indeed.

I truly hate to hear this.... Dave, Please tell Ben I hope he has a speedy recovery, and as a fellow biker, I hope they put the driver UNDER the jail...at least he should be back on a bike by summer time.

Re: Benebob was in an accident

***UPDATE****

Dave, Melis, and I went to see him tonight in the hospital. He was awake and is doing actually pretty good all things considered. He has tubes going into and out of him in all directions but like I said all things considered he is doing pretty good. He was very talkative and pretty attentive to us while we were there. We told him about all of your comments on here and he thanks you all for your thoughts and prayers. He seems to think he is going to be moved at the end of the week. He is in a trauma area now as we speak and only family members can get in. We (Dave and I) are his brothers from a different mother I told him.

Any of you who know Ed from Reading (he comes to our meets). He went yesterday to the towing place and picked up Ben's cycle. I didn't get to see it but he said it is very messed up.

Ben said to me tonight: "Matt you need to find me a really good lawyer" so I think Ben is well on his way to getting back to his old self.

I'm going to go back to see him Thursdayish so hopefully I will have another report then for you all.

Again thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for Ben (and let's keep those thoughts and prayers comming for him and his family) and let's not forget his wife and daughter too. This is really a bummer of a Christmas for that little girl.

Re: Benebob was in an accident

While you hate to see anyone go through something like that, it actually is a great Christmas. He is alive and gets to have more experiences in this physical world. I hope he can eventually view this glass as half full once he gets this further behind him.

This is horrible, glad they caught that lady. Hope for a speedy recovery! I can't believe someone would do that and just drive off. Thankfully someone had the sense to be a good samaritan.

Re: Benebob was in an accident

I've only met Benebob in online discussions but he is obviously well liked here. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

DUI at 9:30am! Un-be-effing-lievable. Drivers get crazy around the holidays but this particular year they seem to be reaching for new heights. We made a ~4 hour drive from PA to southern MD on Sunday, then back home Monday. I don't think I have ever seen so many lame-brained driving maneuvers in my life. I must have commented to my wife a hundred times; "there goes another person trying to have an accident on Christmas Eve." We saw it all. Cars driving in tight packs 25+ mph over the speed limit, wild lane changes, sudden dives onto exit ramps -- you name it, we saw it. One car repeatedly wandered back and forth across 2 travel lanes plus the shoulder while traveling in excess of 65mph on I-83. We were close enough to see that the driver wasn't looking at the road; she was looking down at something in her hand.

Ben:

I'm really sorry you're spending the holiday in the trauma ward. Hope that you are released soon. Hope that really good lawyer can get you some recompense for your pain and suffering. Get well soon.

That's because you were in Maryland. Home of stupid drivers. I know there are dumb driver everywhere, but they are pretty bad in this state year round.

Ben I wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on a bike next year. I hope that ***** gets what is coming to her.

Re: Benebob was in an accident

I am very glad to hear he is doing as well as he is. Any time a bike tangles with a car, the biker usually come out on the bad side. His family is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Thank you for keeping us updated on his condition and how he is doing.

Try I-70 west at Frederick about 4:00 pm on any weekday! Wife was with me one day and we were running 70mph. 'BLURRRS' passed us on both sides at once. She asked if I saw that? I said, saw what? Looks normal to ME!
As for DWI and Hit and Run at 9:30 AM?? 'Life' in the GAS chamber!!

Get well Ben!
