Re: How many SVXs are still on the road?

I see one everyday, in my driveway But cant drive it I would guess there are less than half of the 14,000 imported into the USA left on the road

Licenced is 'on road'.

SORN is Statutary Off Road Notification so 'off road'

Re: How many SVXs are still on the road?

Bought my 92ack in late 1999. She has been great over the years and I dont want to give her up. Had a kid side swipe it the other day. Not to happy about it. But she will drive again!

Cheers,

Lookin4svx, maybe your mom or other family member that worked for the DMV could tell us how many are left in CT

Re: How many SVXs are still on the road?

In LA working and had meeting with client who is buying a STI. I mentioned that I own a SVX and he knew the car since he almost bought one new years ago. He mentioned that he never sees any SVX'S in his daily driving which he does lots of in the LA area.

So reading the estimates of how many are left in each state I question the estimates. I doubt there are more than twenty to thirty in all of Utah which is rural state and there are several other rural states where SVX'S are rare. I drive 30,000 plus miles a year and see very few, especially in the Rocky Mountains. Just my observations, obviously not scientific or accurate.

Ray

PS: In last week I have driven from Salt Lake to Aspen to Scottsdale to LA and have not seen one SVX!

I really think it's just random when you see them, and not based off how much you drive. I've driven over 100k miles all over the country, including quite literally everywhere in PA in the past 2 years roughly (i've lost count long ago) and have only seen a handful "in the wild".

Re: How many SVXs are still on the road?

I just drove 1602 miles from Abilene to Wiley ford WV last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, and did not see a one.
I saw a TVR, 700 Corvettes, 1400 Mustangs, and one trike, but not one SVX.
I have driven to Norfolk VA and back at least three times lately, to NY and back, NJ and back, PGH and back several times and have not seen an SVX.
I do not think that they exist.

Buttercup: Westley, what about the S.V.X.'s?
Westley: Saftey Vehicles eXperimental? I don't think they exist.
[Immediately, an SVX, attacks him]

I just re-watched that movie last week. Timeless.

Since I bought my teal SVX in November 2003 I've seen one other SVX on the road (and that was a fleeting glimpse); westbound on U.S. 64 near Murphy, NC, late '03 or early '04. I do live in a sparsely populated area, but I also drive in and around Atlanta regularly.

My mechanic, who has been in business for years and runs a busy shop, has never seen another. A Delorean, yes, but no SVX other than mine.

Re: How many SVXs are still on the road?

I think you are on to something, maybe they don't exist!

Ray

PS: Good point about about miles driven, seeing one is random - like a few weeks ago, I am driving to the gym in Salt Lake City and make a right on red turn and what pulls up next to me but the one of the few SVX'S in SLC. This has happened three times to me while driving in a certain part of town, so it is more coincidence not miles driven.

Re: How many SVXs are still on the road?

I live in Northern Wyoming. I bought the first one I ever saw here last year and I have been in this town since 1993. Oh, and the car is originally from Idaho. Right now, it is in Bozeman, Montana, undergoing its tranny transplant. There are about a dozen SVXs in various states of repair at the Suby shop where my SVX is. I know that two of them, at least, are driven at least periodically.

I've seen a Lamborghini Countach, but no SVX in Wyoming.

Re: How many SVXs are still on the road?

So the deal went through. You are getting the 5 speed. In the 18 years I have owned my SVX I have only seen about 20. I passed a pearl in downtown Nashville on our x country drve . Did that 3 times only saw that one back in 1994-97 . I drove a work truck 14,000 miles a year all over Ct,MASS.,and eastern NY state and in 3 years saw 2.
