So how does he check to see if it is the C solenoid or the basket? And how does he fix it. I know the. Answer do a 4:44 swap or. A 5 speed conversion. Guy needs help, he has entertained us . Needs a quick fix.

Get in the car, and with the door open, put the key in the ignition and turn it forward 2 clicks without starting the car. Listen for a noise from the transmission. It is a distinct fast clicking. That is the sound of the solenoid C. If you don't hear the noise, then the solenoid c isn't working. If you do, then it's the clutch basket.

My money is on the basket.

And I am guessing the basket means a blown tranny. Is it a fixable or better to just replace the whole tranny? Any estimate on cost of repair?

No, it can be repaired with the transmission in the car

tried the key "on" position heard 2 click under the hood, and fuel pump run

upon start the POWER light blinked 17 times.

Sounds like u r still not down and out Jawn.!!! Can any machanic do this clutch basket replacement? Any cost estimate?what parts and where do you get them?

Blinking at startup is the car's way of saying "My tranny has problems! Please check what they are" (with a japanese accent of course). It's not the actual code.
