Headlamp care

We've been through this topic before and it got very heated last time.

ANY coating that darkens the appearance reduces the amount of light that comes through. You are sacrificing saftey for "coolness".

A side effect is that the tinting will scatter light and cause more glare to oncoming drivers than a clear lens will. A similar effect can be seen when your lights are dirty, they glare from the sides, but when clean, you can't see any light from the sides.

Hence the requirement for HID's to have headlight washers to be legal in the US.

I don't think he was, but, if people are following your example these days, due to your superior intellect, then <shrug> what's your beef? So, <shrug> whatever.

Baking soda (Arm & Hammer brand) works great for me. Not back to "brand new" just no longer "noticably yellow".

I dabbed a wet terrycloth towel into baking soda and was able to rub the yellow right off. Worked so well I should have taken before and after pictures.

The part of the cloth that was used to rub the plastic turned a brownish-orange color, probably removing the survface oxidation or something which means I'll probably have to repeat this treatment in a few months.
