Idle Air Control Valve Adjustment

I just replaced my idle air control valve with a used one, and noticed that the housing to which the sensor attaches is held onto the valve with two screws. They are similar to that on the TPS, in that the housing can be rotated a few degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. I was wondering if that is the intent, and what the adjustment is for. I ask because after putting on the "new" idle air control valve, the car idles at around 1K rpm, rather than at ~700 rpm previously. It actually seems to be idling better than before, but that may be due to the higher idle speed. I was wondering if this adjustment serves to change the idle speed. Thanks.

Re: Idle Air Control Valve Adjustment

Turns out that by turning the sensor housing (which can be done without removing the valve), the idle speed can be adjusted. When I reinstalled the valve I loosened the sensor housing so that it could be turned without again removing the valve. After installation, the car idled at around 1K once warmed up. i then moved the housing very slightly, counter clockwise, and the idle went back down to around 700 rpms.
