Re: Slippage between 1st and 2nd gear
Ok, sounds easy enough. And if it is low-line pressure. what would the fix be?

It has been made clear that something is slipping and this can be surely be relied on as a being well founded.

Verify by properly test the line pressure, using a gauge connected to the port provided for this purpose. Any reliable transmission shop should be able to carry out this standard test. First things first and which do not require removal of the transmission. Blocked external cooler or filter. Blocked main strainer. Solenoid "A" valve fault. Blocked internal strainer/filter associated with the pilot valve. This calls for removal and separation of the valve body.

Re: Slippage between 1st and 2nd gear
You said your fluid was good as far as level but how old is it? If you have a lot of miles, contaminated fluid, and/or overheated your fluid this could possibly affect your line pressures as well, something to do definitely when or if you take Trevors advice on the trans filter. Though if you drain it may as well drop the pan to inspect further.

Re: Slippage between 1st and 2nd gear
Fluid was clean (replaced about 11/2 years ago) but i did replace the fluid again today just to see if it makes a difference. Seems to have made no difference. Did not drop the pan but it will be the next job I get done after checking the pressure. Will let everyone know the outcome.

Re: Slippage between 1st and 2nd gear
Ok just thinking: if the tranny is toast, how long or how many kms. could I put on it living with this slipping between 1st and 2nd before it gets undrivable. Right now it's really no problem. Drives perfectly once it gets into 2nd. And I don't drive the car much as it is....
Anyone living with this problem....

Re: Slippage between 1st and 2nd gear
That'd be me. I've been driving her for about six months or more like this, no real complications. I've learned when to press for gas and when to let off. I'm going to get my brake band adjusted when I get my exhaust work done by OT though.

Re: Slippage between 1st and 2nd gear
ok well that is interesting considering I'm probably taking the car off the road for six months to drive my Z for the summer. hmmm I could put off this major repair for at least a year or two....
unplugged the line pressure module (behind the battery) Seemed to make no difference whatsoever.
