Re: DDM Raptor HID's

So what is the difference in the 'bulb type'? Such as H1, H2, H3, H4, H6, H6M, H7, 9004,9005,9006, etc. Which one do I need?

I want them for the low beams. But out of curiosity, what would I need for the others?

Re: DDM Raptor HID's

Lows are 9006, highs are 9005 and fogs are H3. You also need to find out what color you want them most go for 4500,5000 for lows

Cool, thanks for that! I think I was going to go 5000 because I'm getting these so I can see the best I possibly can at night and from what i've read those seem to be the best. I'm going to try and get before and after pictures to show the difference for everyone to see

This is probably correct, but because it is a little bit subjective, depending on the colour sensitivity of individuals which can vary, it's not really possible to claim an absolute 'best' that applies to every single person.

It would be correct to say that this is the colour temperature that suits the vast majority of people.

4500K is the photographic equivalent of what colour temp applies at noon on a summer's day.

[If you want to be picky about that, it's likely this colour temp differs from Equatorial to Northerly latitudes, depending on the volume of atmosphere through which the sun's light has to travel]

Going down the numbers from 4500 the perceived tone gets more yellow. Going upwards from this it gets bluer, then goes purple at the upper reaches, finally going to UV to which our eyes are not sensitive at all, i.e. it will actually illuminate the road, but we humans won't be able to see the reflected light at these levels.

In short, either 4500 or 5000 are exceptionally good colour temps for human eye sensitivity.

Re: DDM Raptor HID's

I got a set of this last week for my other car.

It's a bi-xenon, hi/lo kit.....4500K.

There's no label said this is 4500k bulb and I aint sure
if I got the right color bulbs.

The color was not what I expected. I thought it's gonna
be more white. It's a little blueish or purple color. Perhaps
the bulbs are new and not breaking in yet.

I feel the low beam is an improvement but the high beam
on the HID hi/lo kit doesn't work as good as my halogen
high beam. When I switch to hi, I could see the road sign
easily on the halogen....than the HID kit.

After two and the half days, one side of the ballasts went
out and no light. I hide my ballasts pretty good with good
ventilation and they are not in the engine bays! The good
thing is it's under warranty.........but for the process and
shipping time, I probably have to wait another three weeks
to get back my HIDs lightning.

Something wrong there dude. There is no blue in 4500K. None.

What you are describing sounds like 6000K or more, maybe 8000K.

Complain and exchange them. Tell them they sent the wrong bulbs, the light is the wrong color. They probably stock a zillion 8000K bulbs to one 5000K or lower, because most kids want the cool blue-ish color that lets everybody know they have HIDs. So in your case they were out of stock of the ones you ordered and sent you what they have plenty of, thinking you will not know the difference.

Your call.

I heard lot of good things from them so I bought from them.

So far my experience is not as good. After I got my kit, I called
them three times.

First call, talked to a guy, told them the color was not white as 4500k. He was not very friendly....asked me to read the return policy on their site. (copy and paste)

HID Kits: HID Kit bulb color can and will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and from lot to lot. Variations in color from other kits (DDM or other) are not a warranty item. On receipt of your kit, please test connect your bulbs without installing your kit and verify that you are happy with the color. Within 72 hours of delivery we will exchange bulbs with you if you want a different color but the customer will be responsible for the cost of shipping product BOTH WAYS. DDM Tuning does warrant that our bulb colors will conform to our standard in class. Therefore, if, as an example, you order 8000K and your bulbs are yellowish, we will warranty this. But we will not guarantee that the shade of a bulb will exactly match your expectations, other kits (DDM or otherwise) or be the exact shade you desired. Additionally, any returns of HID bulbs, ballasts, harnesses or other components, that are physically modified or damaged in any way. Please understand that if we cannot return the product for warranty to our suppliers, we cannot extend their warranty to you.

I was hoping after few hundreds of hours (color shift), the bulbs might be breaking in...so I will see whiter color. It's definitely not as white as those oem Acura hids on the roads....definitely not 8000k...looks like a 6000k as few of frens said so. But there's no label to say what color it is...hard to argue. As above said, I need to pay for the shipping for both way if there's not my fault?

Second call, talked to a guy, better experience, asked about what should I do if I have a defective ballast.....

Third call, talked to a girl, very friendly, good experience. She told me what I need to do and they will take care of both way shippings since it's only 2 days of usage and under warranty.

Now I'm back to Halogen at the moment.....one of my ballasts was already shipped back to them two days ago.

Tell me if you were me, what would you do? I'm not totally happy with the color, of course. I want white, that's why on my order, I chose 4500k color.

Overall my experience is not too good so far....not too happy with high beam too....if I get more money to do this, I will buy a pair of spare headlights and get the bi-xenon projectors....do cuttings...and do the hid retrofit to have the best light output.

Re: DDM Raptor HID's

The first guy on the phone emphasized that what I got for the color was what I ordered. Pls read the return policy for more information.

Now, I got no HIDs lightning....at least 3 weeks...east to west coast ground shipping! 7 days get there 7 days come back and 7 days for them to do the rma process...
