It smells like OLD CAR. I've got a small clip-on air freshener on the passenger side vent, and it does a nice subtle job of masking it.

Every SVX Ive ever been in, smells the same. My Claret smelled the same as my Teal.... like a smokers car. Every single SVX Ive been in that was a smokers car, smelled the same. My Polo, smelled like a non smokers car, exactly the same way other non smoker SVX's smell. Kinda odd dont you think. But I think they all have the same smell. I cant describe it, but I love the smell of non smoker SVX... Its unlike any other car Ive ever been in.

I've found 4 or 5 tiny dried up mice under my back seat. They were like potatoe chips. This didn't help the smell plus having a MAJOR water leak for a month soaking under the whole driver side carpet give it a linguring stagnit water smell. It's still damp under there still, whenever it's nice out the carpets getting removed for yet another steam cleaning.

Mine smells like it just rolled off the assembly line.
 The scent lasts about a week with just a couple sprays under each seat. I usually saturate a small sponge and place it under the seat near an air vent so the scent flows throughout the interior. .

The cabin of my teal smells fine. A little mustiness from the AC for awhile after I bought it, then a gasoline smell 'til I discovered a fuel line clamp leaking under pressure at the filter. I use a mineral oil/leather candle scent concoction on the seats that has a lasting aroma. Previous owner had a dog but wasn't a smoker. There has always been a periodic smell of burning rubber from the engine bay that I only really notice when I pull it into my garage on a hot day.
In the silver I catch an occasional faint whiff of what strikes me as, well... sardines. I don't want to know. dcb

All of this begs the question: How thoroughly does one typically clean-out the interior of a "new" used car? When I bought my silver SVX I did little more than splash around some Armor All and vacuum the interior. Who knows what's under that back seat?
