Re: New member, please answer my Q's...

it's not like a coolant thermostat..it doesn't block oil flow. It's a temperature activated switch. There are lots of different models available. I like the inline one better than the ones that stick to the cooler. When it registers a certain temp it will activate whatever you have wired to it...which should be a relay..the relay should activate the fan. The thermostat, wiring kit (includes relay), fan, and coolers are all available from summitt.

Re: New member, please answer my Q's...

So I am finding some strange things with the plugs.
Do we really share all these plugs with the other autos?

Thanks for the tip on the upper right, lol.

Bosch Spark Plug
Retail Price: $10.05
Your Price: $3.95
Quantity:
Part Number: W0133-1638112
Notes: NGK PFR6B-11 - Normal Heat Range - OE = Platinum
Product Remark: Platinum 2
Availability: In Stock

This Product Fits the Following:
Vehicle
• 1992 Infiniti M30

I myself would just set it up properly in front of the rad so that when the trans reaches temp it will open the thermostat. I really won't have it lock up at all for 9 months out of the year with the weather.

Re: New member, please answer my Q's...

no we do not..they screw in but don't work well

You only want ngk plugs with the platinum chip on the ground strap.
For the oe heat range that means:
pfr6b-11
or
ifr6e-11

If your compression is low you might consider getting a hotter plug
pfr5b-11
or
ifr5e-11
you should usually stick with the oe heat range

you should be hoping to see 200-210 but you won't. 170+ is good. if you're seeing 120, 130, etc put in hotter plugs your engine is tiiiiiiiiiiiired.

The maf won't "freak out". All it essentially does is measures the amount of air coming in and sends a signal to the ECU about how much fuel to put in. Thats the basics.
So it is fine to extend the intake beyond the maf. But probably best to leave the intake alone from the maf to the throttle bodies unless you do decide to get the Tommyx intake then just put the maf directly after that like it shows in the pic.

Re: New member, please answer my Q's...

If I remember correctly, isn't there a crush washer that I have to replace when I change the diff fluid?(or was the trans?)

Re: New member, please answer my Q's...

Another thing I was reading about in the manual, it says that if you drain the trans fluid that only about 3 qt's is going to drain out.

If I get the regular dexron II atf, that would make a mix of synthetic and regular.

How should I proceed in the transmission fluid change then? Get dexron II?

What has everyone else done? Thanks!

Did all new fluids throughout when I bought my cars, and differentials once since on the one I've had for 50,000+ miles. Probably no need for frequent changes given ordinary driving. Just use what the owner's manual recommends (sorry; I can't recall the spec). Same for the transmission. Same for everything.

Re: New member, please answer my Q's...

Yeah, I just don't know what the previous owners have had in there so it twitches me the **** out. Maybe I will have the stealership do the trans flush and then replace it with dexron III.

Other suggestion have implied that one should not let them do the back flush because it can push a bunch of **** into the trans itself.

Re: New member, please answer my Q's...

I wouldn't do a "flush," just drain and refill. If the fluid's really grungy repeat in a few hundred miles.

If you have no records from the previous owner, it's not that big an expense to change all fluids and start with a clean slate.
