I believe they are the "fog lights" on US cars. They were wired to be daytime running lights for Canada. When you switch on your lights at night, they go out, but you can use the dashboard button (next to the cruise control, left side of steering wheel), to turn them on at night (you'd have four lights).
Just my ideas, this is what I figured out from reading a lot of posts. So the module would be the same as the fog lights in the parts diagrams??

Are you sure it is a 93? If so, what color and when is the manufacture date? Thanks.

What does this module do? Are you sure the lights aren't just wired through a relay to ignition live? I'll see if I can find anything on the wiring diagrams.

I don't know anything about that ! Ain't there a fuse for the fog lights that would cut the power to that relay ?

I found it in the USDM factory service manual under "Canada Model".

The DRL module is above the glove box near to the cruise control unit. It has a white rectangular 2by5-pin connector. The wires are Red-White, Brown, unknown, Black-White, Green-Yellow, Red-Green, unknown, Light Green, unknown, Black.

There are two relays DRL#1 and DRL#2 under the dash on the driver's side near the ECU.

DRL#1 has a black connector with five wires, Red-White, Yellow-Black, Blue-Yellow, Blue-Black and Green-Yellow.
DRL#2 has a brown connector with six wires, Red-White, Yellow-Black, Red-White, Blue-Red, Red-Yellow and Black.

There is also a diode with Violet and Yellow-Black wires.

If you remove these parts then your lights may not work at all, day or night. What effect are you trying to acheive?

Phil.

Don't expect it to be an easy job. The engine comes out easier than the glovebox.

Do you have the voltage that the DRL uses ? I want to buy from Tom some HID's and need them to run on 8 volts i think ...

In my experience, removing fuses drops the voltage to zero rather than 8.

The DRL will be 12v. Are you sure that the HIDs aren't 12v also? 12v is the standard for car electrics (except for the digital electronic bits like the ECU), so it would be unusual that lights designed for car use would be anything else.

thats what Tom said :

As of this minute I can not say for sure if DRL would be a problem..
BUT, If your DRL run on over 8volts then the HIDs should work fine all of the time.

But I don<t know the voltage !!!
