Exclamation Bad High Clutch?

Ok, so we had a problem with AWD for the last...many months now :P

Just got it fixed, awd is working...but it's slipping badly in 3rd gear! I think it's shifting into 3rd and then revs without any power.

1. The fluid has been changed out, when the awd was worked on.

2. It hasn't done this at all prior to the last week. It acted a little funny on the way to the shop.

3. Subaru said the tranny fluid, which is new, has a lot of particles in it. I've had a bad experience with this dealer being honest, so it may or may not be true.

I've researched a bit here and found the high clutch may be the culprit, and can maybe get the high clutch assembly from another user. What's involved in replacing it?

Enough money has gone into the car in the last few months to buy an awesomely perfect svx so please give me good news!

I'll update with more info when the car is home...

I had similar issuse with my FWD tranny. It would rev when the gas is hit unless you easily press it in. The end result was bad high clutch which sounds like what you are having.

I think you're right about the high clutch. Anyone know how big of a job it is to replace the high clutch assembly?

Would we be better off just doing a 4.44 swap? I did that with my '95 and and have had no problems with it, but we plan on towing a couple cycles on the back of this one. Maybe it would be better...

Thanks for the help!

Please help! The other car he owns now seems to have blown a head gasket, sitting a few hundred miles away from home. Between the two of us, we have three cars...now two are down
