ECU for regular (not premium) gas

you know, I used to run regular in my old teal car regularly without any issues... I know of others who have too.

i use 85 octane regular unleaded and the old boy doesn't know the difference.

Hocrest put 87 in mine the first time and said it acted a little funny, but after that initial tank I've been sticking with the 87 and have had no problems

I tried the regular gas and the SVX mpg went down BUT I think I will try it again. It didn't save any $ the last time.

i used to get 5mpg MORE with regular gas than with premium in the teally. Silver gets strictly 93 or better for obvious reasons

Not to hijack but does the system learn to accept 87? I ran one tank and it went knock knock knock crazy! Did'nt try more than one tank though!

The first tank on both mine and Subbyru's wasn't running right, and I know on mine the mileage tanked to below 20. After that on both cars it's been smooth sailing. In the summer I get 25-30 mpg.

ill try using 87 and see how that goes

but it would be normal, when using 87 octane for the first time (after using only 91 or above), for the engine to possibly have some MINOR problems or issues?

hmmm... even with stage 2 i've been afraid of trying it.
I put 87 in by accident once and got a code, but it went away... maybe I'l try cycling through on this info guys

I put in medium grade (89) a while back and didn't even notice a thing. I did get a couple miles per gallon better though. I was going to fill with regular (87) next and try it, but chickened out. I think I will though.

I thought that at some point in the past there was a chip available that allowed for issue free use of regular (non-premium) gas but I don't remember any details.
