More power than a Veyron, WITHOUT forced induction

So, the much vaunted Bugatti 16.4 Veyron boasts 1,001 HP and 900 and change lb-ft. All cranked out of an 8L W16 engine, quad turbocharged. Don't get me wrong, those are mind blowing numbers, definitely something to respect.

But as the saying goes, there is no replacement for displacement.

The Weineck Cobra puts out 1100 HP and 1300 lb-ft. It does this without the use of turbo or supercharging. It can do that because the V8 engine has a 12.9 liter displacement, or 780 cubic inches. This thing has pistons the size of your head.

I can't find a 0-60 time for it, but the 0-120 time is 4.9 seconds. The 0-186 time is 10 flat.

What is the point?

a freind of mine keeps asking me... What the heck do I want 300-400 hp out of my car for? my answer: Because you can never have too much hp... well I think we have hit the point... What the heck is this guy using his car for that could warrent that much hp?
It looks too pretty for a dragger
too much power for Time attack (can't handle can it?)
too low and wrong tires for ralley
and drift is a younger guys sport, to own that car you have to be a middle age crisis driven heart surgen...
What is the point?

Drag racing is about all. The veyron is at least somewhat capable of handeling corners and stuff

Tell ya what though, a little squirlly roadster like that...No roof or anything, and can probly break the tires loose at 175,It is probly the scariest thing on 4 wheels to drive. Thw powerplant is rather impressive, and I'm sure its a good toy for anyone who can pny up the money

there was a British "muscle car" (i forget what the make/model was - kinda looked like some British version of an AMX from what i remember ) that had an over 1000hp NA motor in it.

i was searching for it a couple weeks ago, but couldn't find it. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Are you kidding ? Cobras can handle extremely well...
maybe not veyron well, but it would give it good run.
Id take the cubic inches and raw hp under my feet
anyday..
Ive been fortunate enough to drive a 600 hp Mustang
and it was a life changing experience, I cant imagine
what driving that Cobra would be like.
(I would try to lose the giant hoodscoop if possible...or get a smaller one)

Broken-neck Cobra more like, as Trevor says when it rolls over.

That windscreen would collapse when it rolled.

Nice though. Does it come with a free chest wig?

Joe, OK I guess for a drag strip, but a real man would want to drive it on a circuit for real racing. Impossible as one has to see where one is going.
