Also, I really enjoy the 80 watt cd, heated mirrors, seats, etc etc etc that comes with the AWD and 27 MPG. It ain't no drag racer, but it has a 4 star crash rating! and it eats NEONS alive! Jerry A Last edited by subi-crosser; 07-17-2005 at 01:01 PM. |

I have an '87 Trans Am GTA, I believe it was the fastest F-body of the time, equal to the camaro Z28, those were fairly slow with only arround 200hp, but 300# torque as I recall... Newer cars are fastar

Yes, downhill at about a 4% average grade, with race gas I'd been running for 2 months at the time.
Of course, anything more than 160 is guesswork. Should be noted that my speed sensor #2 went out shortly after that run, and my rotors warped from trying to slow the thing, and the front end was starting to get VERY light. I'd say I'll use a camera next time, but a. it was stupid to attempt at the time and b. it'd be even more stupid to attempt again. That and I need a new tranny now, and the siliconed hole in my windshield probably adds .001 to the CD. |

Well here's my 3 cents "inflation"
In defense of the svx...
Took mine to San Diego to see an old friend...before i left did usual..changed oil in engine...drained and filled tranny...made sure spare had air...bought a couple new cd's...and hit the road with the new alum rad. Being Irish i don't think I crusied at much less than 75-90 mph all the way and back...around 2500 miles. My unit has 160k on it...I saw lots of fords chevys and dodges broke down on side of road...new ones. My little wonder got there and back like it was having fun...now this car might not be an earth shaking piece of engineering...but it took care of me...too bad the new ones aforementioned didn't do the same... .....happy trails |

You must have slow SVX's over there
Clocked on friends radar [off duty cop] and on my GPS bog standard 1993 AWD 156 MPH 98 octane fuel mind you the car expired 2 days [COOLANT LEAK] later but average speed for 940 mile trip 120mph and fuel consumption 27 gal per 100 miles with climate control on and 86F out side temp why would you want anything else? Mate was with me in V8 Monaro GMH he used 38 gal per 100 trying to keep with me MMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

i too had an 87 trans am gta that i got rid of for my svx. it would have kicked the holy hell out my svx from start to finish. my svx is no slow poke but if my gta would have ever gone door to door with a v6 firebird (like my svx) i would have escorted it to the junk yard.i haven't seen an svx that can do 13.3 sec. quarter miles without even removing the valve covers. and as far as winter driving goes, i drove it through 4 winters in a row and never got stuck one single time. don't get me wrong guys, the svx is definitely in a class of it's own and i love it to death BUT, i'll never get it to run like my gta did.but maybe i'll be a little closer next week when the NOS goes on. BTW, just to stop an arguement before it starts, the gta was not stock at all but it had nothing but bolt on and little tricks i learned here and there. Subaru states a top-speed of 240 km/h, which is 150 m/h, for the German Version. If I did reach the top-speed of 150 m/h it means a mistake of the speedometer of 7%. This seems to me very realistic at high speeds. I wanted to have mine tested, but they don't do it at the local ADAC (that's our AAA) for 4WD. However, 240 km/h is not a relaxing travel speed any more |

Sinse when is a 92 SVX 8G more??? I havnt even seen one for $8000 asking! I paid 8 for my 94 2 years ago, but it also only had 20K miles. I'd say a decent 92 will run you between 4 and 6 at the most. Also are the times for the camaro for a manual or an auto tranny? The SVX is a hell of a lot faster with a manual.
