Exclamation Finally Got My SVX!!!

YAY!! I just got my '94 LSi today at about 2:00. It's so awesome. I've been reading these boards for the past week and could only speculate the complete coolness of it (i only got to go around the block once, before) It's so sweet. My mom sat down for the first time and 2 seconds later she says: "I love it already!" (Im trying to convince her to sell her 2000 Yukon and get an SVX )
Only thing that i noticed today was that the CD player spits out the CD and doesnt play it... any thoughts? (ill post longer explanation over at tech) I
'm just so happy, i cant wait to drive it to school on Monday and show it off. YAY.

My CD player throws a fit all the time now. Its about ready for replacement. I found that a lens cleaner CD will help it a bit. You might want to try that. Dont expect CD-r o'r CD-rw to work in it. I have only found that CD-r colored "goldish" have any chance of reading. Everything else (blue, green, etc..) does not seem to read well if at all.

Welcome to the "Network" and congratulations on your purchase of one of the finest and underappreciated (by those who are unaware of them) automobiles on the planet. May you have many trouble free years of enjoyment from it.

My CD player is also having the "spit fits" more than it used to. As for green CDr's, mine has had no trouble with them. It used to be that it skipped when it became very hot, on long trips. Or, it would not play when it was very cold. Now, it's going into fits often. I have another set of stock units from a 92 that I'm going to replace mine with . . . one of these days. I've found nothing that will fix my problem thus far. I'm going to take the current unit to a shop to have it re-furbed, so, if the replacement unit goes out, I'll have another stock unit on standby.

Guess mine is just about gone TU then. I hope it will at least last long enough for me to find a job and have it replaced with a CD/MP3 player. I use my RIO 500 with a cassette adapter, but loose way too much quality that way. Been using it more and more as my CD player rejects more and more CDs

Chris - What kind of tape adapter are you using? I was amazed at the quality difference in going from a generic one to an actual sony adapter - the difference being (they claim at least) that the head on the sony floats a bit so that it's always line up right. It definately improved the sound quality off my mp3 player ...

Here, in SVX Land, we prefer the terms, "Teal with envy," or, "Polo with envy." Please see that we make that adjustment in our vocabularies.

How about "Pearl with envy?" I love the car, except today after school it wouldnt let me turn the key and it kept beeping at me. So i re-closed both doors and the trunk, and it started, but i was kinda late picking up my brother, oh well.

Congrats on the new car. You will love it (forever). Enjoy the drive. It's always a pleasure in these cars. As far as the stock CD player. Mine's fine. Will play all CD's except CD-RW. Never had a problem with it. Again, enjoy your car and tell your mom she's got good taste!

did you say what color it is?

I have a 94 L FWD barcelona red. very modded. if you think you love the car now, just wait. it gets worse the longer you drive it.
