Thumbs up My SVX talks to me....

Well, after breaking the news that I needed to get my waterpump replaced (hence timing belt, crank, and cam seals also), Kristin (fiance) asked me how much I've spent on my car in the past 2 months. Heh. Eh... she likes the SVX a bit, but she also doesn't like it.

Lets see: Wheel bearing: 440
Axles: 160ish
Waterpump, timing belt, seals, labor: 6-700ish.

See, I tried explaining to her that the SVX is actually trying to tell me that it would like to perform absolutely flawlessly on the way to FLorida and back. That's all. She (the SVX) wanted the wheel bearing replaced just to make sure we could have long conversations and stuff, and she wanted the axles replaced to make sure we'd have a safe trip, and she wanted her water pump and stuff replaced to make sure she wouldn't get in a bad mood between here and FLorida.

I think Kristin thinks I'm nuts.

- Rob

As time goes on, the SVX will continue to talk to you I'm sure, but will Kristen?

Earl's right, your soon-to-wife will probably never understand your "problem" with the SVX. Trust me I know from expirience. I even mention anything Subaru related now, and she just says no and walks out of the room. I still don't know how I convinced her to let my buy the SVX, or how I'm going to convince her we need a new Forester XT.

If your soon-to-be is asking these sorts of questions before she even has the ring on her finger, it may be time for you to get your priorities straight.

Rob, If you start a verbal relationship with your car you may have to get up extra early and sneak in your garage. Your wife will never know!

My Girlfriend doesn't understand my affair with my SVX, but she does understand that I have a passion for it, and as long as she gets her share of passion, she will support my affair with the SVX...for now

The first SVX Meet we went to together really confused her..."Why would you go meet strangers because of a car?"

But she came anyways, and then we went again, and she's starting to have fun.

P.S. She really likes to drive the SVX..a lot. She understands that having a passion for a car, any car, is OK...for some people.

my SVX really does talk to me. i have a talking alarm, and the AutoPC, with a nice female voice soundscheme on it. other sound schemes are Knightrider, Simpsons, Seinfeld, Star Trek, James Bond, etc.

Not that there's anything wrong with that,

i'm guessing you would probably install the Village People sound scheme. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Rob,

If your girl likes you and you get enjoyment from your SVX, then she should like the SVX too.

Peace

She's not alone

Where are you going in Florida? Have you taken it on any "long" trips like that yet? I finally took mine on a couple of 5 hour drives...just loved it.

Also, if you have to justify your passion for the car just let her see what other nuts are out here. I think we may actually make you appear normal.

Mine also speaks to me on a regular basis. Some things it says are:

1. "Where is your wallet?"
2. "Have you paid your American Express this month?"
3. "I'll bet you can't figure out what this means" (Followed by a strange noise coming from random places on the car)
4. "You need a higher limit on your credit cards"
5. "Let's go to the bank!"
6. "Is this a real inconvenient time to break down?"
7. "Hey, it's summer time, I think I'll leak freon now."
8. "I'm hungry, stick your head under the hood again."
9. "I wish I was a 5 speed." (Then repeats question #1)
10. "Come on...there's no cops around."
11. "Stop spending money on that damn Fiat!"
