I am pretty sure Osteo biflex is one of the products included in my study. If you guys would like I can post the results of the study as they become available. So far the groups treated with G&C have had better mobility and less long-term post op pain. The only noticeable trade off has been stomach and bowel irritation.
can you post your findings in plain English, because medical jargon scares and confuses me.

Simple, huh? I think I can manage that. Ill post some of the actual numbers on Monday. Basically the study is showing us exactly how Osteo biflex and other similar products work to increase lubrication in the joint lining. Kind of like re-greasing your CV joints. The patients tend to tolerate the liquids better than the pills (less upset stomach, diarrhea), and glucosamine supplements are more effective when paired with chondroitin. I think the main benefit for the people in our studies is that they are less dependent on expensive anti-inflammatory drugs.

glucosamine and chondrioitin appear to provide pain relief, perhaps slowing the disease process of osteoarthritis. glucosamine apparently stimulates cartilage cells to manufacture proteoglycans while chondroitin may inhibit enzymes that break down cartilage. recent research has examined only the short-term effects of these compounds.

as per Joyce Black...

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Rest assured, long-term studies are indeed underway. The biggest limiting factor in these studies is time itself.

I have been told to make it very clear that any views I have or will express in this thread should be taken as information expressed on a peer-peer level. If you are considering any herbal, medicinal, or other changes to your current treatment you should first consult your health care provider. So I can answer any questions you want to ask about this study but do not consider it my professional advice. (I asked our chief about any policies concerning the release of information from this study and the almost hit the fan; lawsuit abuse is such a great thing.)
