Greatly expanded suspension aftermarket?

Talking about struts with someone then I did a random search on Altavista.

http://forums.probetalk.com/printthr...p?t=1701159979

"It seems like Probe struts fit the Subaru SVX. I know this becase I talked to a guy that autox's and he said he bought his illuminas for a probe and just installed them on his subaru.

just a little info...so I guess 99-05 Protege, PGT, and Subaru SVX struts are interchangable."

Please tell me someone can verify this.

How bout this:

"Front shocks on the Subaru SVX are dimensionally identical to the struts on the Impreza/Legacy.
I did not check with a caliper, but the only difference I could tell between the struts was the metal tabs and such welded onto the base strut unit for brake lines/sway bars, etc."

I dunno about the probe struts, but the only struts that can fit our front are the rears of the impreza WRX (that after a lot of customizing)

Customizing is out of the question. This guy claimed Toxico Illuminas bolted right up to his SVX, or the Probe guy interpreted it that way, and these struts are looking pretty sweet for a good price.

Triumph, you don't have an SVX lieing around to test them on ?

Actually the SVX is sitting right next to the probe the only problem is.. I dont want to take the suspensions apart just yet and lose alignment. However Im in the process of obtaining a set of spare SVX struts from a member here for a future koni setup I had planned. If I get those, I’ll measure out both sets and post the finding here.

Actually if you guys are considering picking any up may I suggest http://www.probegarage.net ? I've bought the same suspension from this guy last year for my MX6 and his service is outstanding. Nice suspension too, but I'd be weary of it on an SVX. It might be possible though.

No Impreza struts don't fit without work. The SVX hub where the strut attaches is wider then the legacy/impreza. That said you can get the springs to fit if you wanna be lower than low up front and higher than high in the rear. Good luck trying to get the swaybar mounted up front.

I have 2nd gen probe Tokico Illuminas in the box in my garage right now waiting to be installed on my 95 PGT. If someone has some svx struts laying around, maybe we could compare measurements to see if theyre even close. As for coilovers or springs No way it would work...the SVX is way heavier than the probe.

Well I havent heard anything about those struts yet so I measured my own. Heres the front one:

Obviously probe struts do not fit the svx. I did not bother with the rears, they werent even close.

On a better note the custom aluminum radiator I have been working on is almost finished

Nice research Triumph.
The radiator looks nice and comfortable in there. Is that an oil cooler on the front. if so that is bad ass. I want one.

Those struts can be fitted to an SVX, I think. What about putting 5mm spacers on each side and grinding the strut holes a little bit as the attached figure shows... it is possible to fit them, I think. We need to check the stabilizer thingy which is welded to our stock struts and the upper mounting and strut lengh...

BTW: THE RADS ARE BADASSSSSSS, bettAr than the PWR's

Cool radiator.

Looks like this strut thing was a bust though.

Why modify a decent strut when you can buy a better one that fits for maybe 100-200 more.

Would you mind measuring the rears the same way anyway? It will help I swear!
