Help with plug / connector ID

While working on getting my SVX back on the road, I found this two pin connector (unplugged) mounted under the brake MC in the engine compartment. It must have been deliberately unplugged sometime before I got the car, because I don't remember doing it. I've since plugged it back in, but will not have the car on the road for some time yet. Does anyone know what this is for?

This appears to be the connection to a pressure switch which closes when the brake cylinder becomes pressurised i.e. operated, so as to provide a signal to the ABS control unit.

That's the connector for the ABS sensor for the front left wheel. One of those wires should pass through into the wheel well. There should be one in an identical location on the right side of the engine bay also.

Not likely:- The front wheel sensor wires comprise shielded cables, both of which run directly to a multi-pin connector in the wiring loom where the shields become grounded, then within the loom to the ABS unit.

P.S. I wonder if the previous owner pulled the plug so as to defeat the ABS feature due to it being faulty, or alternately because as some do, he did not like it overriding his controlled braking. It would be worthwhile to check the switch for continuity on/off while operating the brake pedal.

Thank you both! Makes sense, this car had nonfunctional brakes when I got it. The rear lines had rusted out and all of the fluid had escaped. Maybe the PO unplugged it to prevent it from cycling with no fluid in it or something.

As you can see in this picture the wires from the connector pass through into the wheel well. These connect to the ABS sensor on the knuckle.

Looking at the part on Rock Auto, it does seem like the connectors match. Also, it's $160 for an aftermarket replacement , although I'm also seeing new OEM for around $140 online elsewhere. If the sensor is indeed bad, that would be a good reason to unplug it and just live with an ABS light / nonworking ABS I guess. I hate warning lights and nonworking systems though, so I hope the one in my '94 parts car is OK...otherwise I guess I'm buying a sensor :/

My previous SVX had similar "ABS unplugged things" (oh, and the ABS dash warning bulb was burnt out when I bought it...), cables where unplugged, relays were unplugged, fuse missing. After fixing all that, I found the (usdm) front driver side ABS sensor cable was severed and the sensor was bent from a previous accident. Might be worth checking your ABS sensor on that wheel, or at least checking the cable for damage, the sensors can be a really plain to remove (and event harder to remove without damaging it...). I think it's possible to check the ABS sensor to tone wheel clearance without removing the sensor, that should help tell if the sensor tip was damaged.
