Academy Awards

I was pleasantly surprised at the restraint and in most cases support for at least our troops during the Academy Awards last night. Really only 2 participants voiced criticism and/or opposition. One of them was not even an American and was greeted with mostly looks of shock and disgust from most attendees. The second was highly vocal in opposition and was openly booed by numerous attendees while most were again shocked and appalled by his comments with only a few scattered supporters.

I am somewhat unhappy with the press coverage today after the ceremony because they cannot and do not even attempt to explain the expressions of disapproval on the attendees faces even if they were not vocal.

Despite some silent expression by selected actors/actresses (wearing of peace symbols), I feel that the conduct was worthy of respect.

“Our so called Allies”

So far we’ve learned: (1) our “good friends” the Germans built Saddam’s bunkers and communications. (2) Our “good friends” the French supplied Iraq with materials to build banned missiles. And (3) today we learn that our “good friends” the Russians supplied Iraq with night vision capability, anti-tank missiles and worst of all, technology to jam GPS systems… ALL AFTER THE GULF WAR!!!

Like the saying goes…. With “friends” like these, who needs enemies…

I have never heard about any laws, and that wars were played by the rules.

But yeah, that is very disturbing, but expected to happen.

Yes, even though they expected that at some point, it obviously took them by surprise in this case.

The reason for 'rules of war' such as this, is that these strategies increase the peril for those ordinary citizens who honestly want to surrender. A jumpy soldier is not the guy you want taking you into custody.

We need to recall Japanese surrenduring in WW2. We made them come out naked and back to back from their caves after they ambushed us while "giving up". One pair did just that and when within range, his buddy pulled the pin in the granade up his rectum.

A no prisoner rule may take over if this persists-just what Saddam wants photos of on TV.

Why does the Wash. Post web site need to know my gender, year of birth, and my zip code; before I can read their article?
Typical invasion of privacy to try and market something to me.

Under gender there was no selection for "Bipostual".

They see it as tailoring your visit to suit you better

I usually just give them the wrong sex, birthdate, and zip just to mess up their demographics

Sorry LarryIII, and everyone, I forgot that I have a school subscription, and I don't have to enter anything. I will check next time, before I post something.
