Re: SVX parts from Japan,

How do you know when you need a new tailshaft?

When turning tightly and slowly in my SVX, particularly on gravel, you can hear the rear wheels slipping on the gravel - it almost sounds like they are not turning in sync with the front wheels. On bitumin, slow turning makes a thudding sound on each revolution, again feeling like the wheels are trying to compensate for the different speeds they are travelling at thru a tight corner. Does this sound like a tailshaft / diff issue?

Re: SVX parts from Japan,

Thats just normal due to a different radius of the back wheel. Depending on the problem with the tail shaft it will bang loud.

Re: SVX parts from Japan,

Tony, I'm pretty sure Mal is referring to the centre red light bar section on the bootlid, as opposed to a drive shaft which I think is what you are after.

The Japanese cars have Alcyone written on theirs rather than SVX.

The US guys like to mod up their cars using Japanese and sometimes European cosmetic parts.

Joe

That sounds like a failed solenoid at the back of the transmission. Cost to replace about $NZ400 parts & labour.

If that's the issue, is the car still OK to drive until I get the solenoid renewed?
