Looking for Magnaflow soundclips and alittle advice

Does anyone have a few soundclips of there SVX with a Magnaflow muffler? They dont really have very many soundclips on there website, unless you have a WRX motor under the hood. I think its time to put a muffler on my SVX and was just looking for some soundclips. The muffler i'm thinking of using has dual input / output so I can keep the true duals. Is there any advice to where I should locate the muffler? I came up with only 2 options. A) I put it all the way up front, right where the larger cat converter was and either keep or get rid of the glasspaks, or B) Just put it in the spot the glasspaks were. If I go with option A I think it might deepin the sound and maybe cut out alot of the noise. But option B would be alot easier i.e. less cutting and weilding. Anywho, anyone let me know what you think. Heres a link to the muffler i'm questioning. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku Thanks

Re: Looking for Magnaflow soundclips and alittle advice

i just got my magnaflow and have yet to get it mounted.
mines the single inlet version.
i'm mountin mine in the stock location.
I need/want the resonators + you'll lose ground clearance mounted anywhere else.
if you're mig welding it, use er309l wire and trimix.
i should have it mounted next week.
i've got a stock vs. magnaflow, @ speed clip planned,
none of this revin' @ idle crap!

Re: Looking for Magnaflow soundclips and alittle advice

It's not in an SVX, but it is an EG33 with a magnaflow muffler. The muffler is stainless steel, 2 in 2 out with 2.5 inch tubing. The entire exhaust system is VERY short so the sound is a bit different than an SVX. Basically it's custom headers then right into the muffler. No cat or anything.

Re: Looking for Magnaflow soundclips and alittle advice

Yeah it sounds more like a porsche motor than a subie. Its got a great sound but I think it will sound alot different with about another 5 or so feet of pipe behind it. Does anyone know the rough dimensions of the main cat. I was thinking that if it were similer to the muffler dimensions i could just mount the muffler in the old cats location. I'd just measure my old converter but I think I scrapped it. I'm hoping not to have to redo my whole exhaust system but i'm missing out on some WOT driving because its so loud. Any experts have any advice on the best location. I was thinking that mounting it in the cats location could help save some ground clearance but i dont know what that will do for sound. I was also thinking of mounting a dual in/dual out muffler transversly in the rear where the stock muffer was but the magnaflow customer service rep seemed to not have a clue what i was talking about.
I wanted to put an input and an output on each side of the muffler instead of both inputs on one end. So, on each side of the muffler there would be one input coming from the exhaust system, and one output going to the exhaust tip. He said it was universal but didnt say if it was that universal. I may just have to buy the muffler and see what I can do with it!

Re: Looking for Magnaflow soundclips and alittle advice

I have a clip of my Ebony's single inlet magnaflow muffler.

Some people really like the sound of it, but I think I actually like the sound of a stock exhaust better. I miss having quiet cars. I hate the way this exhaust sounds in tunnels.

Re: Looking for Magnaflow soundclips and alittle advice

Sounds good, does your car have resonators or cats or anything else on it? I think i'm going to order the muffler next week after I junk out one more car. I only have an arc welder and no access to a mig so should I bother with the polished stainless? Bear in mind i'm not a bad welder and all of the pipe thats on the car is just regular old coated exhaust pipe. It has alittle surface rust on it but nothing a wire wheel wont knock off. I also built the system for ease of removal and it only takes about 1/2 hour to take off and put back on. let me know what you all think, save 30 bucks or possabaly waste it?

Click on that for my magnaflow setup. 2.5" single pipe from cat, back to dual magnaflow mufflers. The dual mufflers allow for less pipe bending.

Recording is 1st-3rd while driving with microphone taped to the rear bumper.

www.timeng.net/downloads/exhaust.avi

This is a video of inside the car showing the exhaust under load. I think I went up to 4000 RPM.

Dont mind the crotch shots as the camera fell into my lap when i was shifting.
