What runs inside this tubing?
Exactly what runs inside the small black rubber tube that connects from the right rear fender to the side of the trunk lid by the hinge?
There is no other wiring that I can see. I can't believe that the tail / brake lights, backup lights, LED strip light and the license plate lights that are in the trunk lid are all connected and run through this. My reason for asking is I want to add additional lighting inside my trunk lid and connect to the existing trunk light, which is under the parcel shelf. I don't want to add additional visible wiring. I thought about running the additional small wires through that rubber conduit if there was room. I am sure those who were parting out or had swapped trunk lids would have the answer. .

Well, where else are those wires going to go?
Once you take the inner panel off the trunk lid you will confirm everything.

Just looking for an easy solution to get 12V power from the trunk light into the trunklid so the light comes on when I open the trunk.
Where is the switch located that activates the trunk light? In the latch assembly in the trunklid?

Universal ground, reverse, brake, lights on. Four wires - at least in the circuit. The existing trunk light is switched to ground, so you'll need to run a pair of wires to the trunklid, as everything there is permanently grounded. Assuming you'll be using LEDs, you should be able to piggyback the new lighting from the existing trunk light without causing problems.

I will be using LEDs.
If I disconnect both "grommets" or rubber plugs where they attach to the trunklid and rear fender, would there be enough room inside the tubing to feed thin 24 gauge speaker wire to power the lights? .

You could either install LEDs in the recesses of the trunk as a piggyback
to the factory trunk light. There are two in the "roof" of the trunk, and there is lots of space to the sides. If you really want to have lights in the trunklid you could poke a small hole through the grommets and use a black speaker wire zip tied to the factory tube.
