rear differential...universal?

i was woundering if i could take a rear differential out of a legacy or something to put into my svx? when i bought it it was fwd and i took the fuse out and it makes like a grinding sound and shakes alot. so im just gonna replace the rear diff.

nope, ours are LSD and we have different rear axles than other Subaru's.

We also have a 3.54 final gear that other Subaru's dont have.

damn ****in car , can't find no perf pieces , no bolt-on fitting no nothing ...sometimes it pisses me off....its not like those legacy\wrx where u can find parts everywhere

thats because both of those cars share alot of the same running gear.

there are even things between them that are different though (rear diffs in certain models even).

Finding an SVX rear diff is pretty easy actually. Might find one for $50 if you know where to look.

I'm guessing that the previous owner installed the fwd fuse to mask a bad solenoid C.
Or fubarred clutch pack.

OK, from the # you got off of the replacement transmission;
"the vin next to the starter is tz102z2dca-ke"

According to a friend at Subaru, that trans is a 4.44 from an early 1998 Legacy GT.
So, you will need a 4.44 rear diff to match it.
