Anybody check a Scion out yet?

Toyota's new "youth" division. Coming to CA this Summer www.scion.com

I'm trying to talk a friend/co-worker into getting an xB and having it shipped to PA. Even if he doesn't like it I'm sure he can run it at Manheim and cover his costs. How often can you get a car that is virtually impossible for anyone else to get in the area for almost a year.

You'll hate the next gen Neon and Stratus then. It is to be based on a new World car on the next Lancer platform and it is to have a central intrument cluster as well. I guess since it is perceived to be a safety feature (less travel time for the eyes) plus the cost savings factor of wiring similarities between models designated for different coutries a lot of automakers are going towards it. I tend to agree though that it doesn't work for my eyes but then again, I'm sure there were tons of people complaining when the high beam switch was no longer floor mounted . You can't beat the price though. $14000 for an xB plus its a Toyota underneath so it'll last forever!

I think its hideous personally but then again he's talking Mini Cooper, VW Cabrio, Porsche Boxster or Audi TT. This looks much better in that light.

Well, I pretty much hate the current neon, and I don't pay attention to the stratus either...so.. meh. Big loss. Just drive the price down of 1st gens more!

They can't go much lower. I can get 10 a week for less than $200 with under 100k and actually run.

Are you serious or just joking? I've looked for a beater neon coupe to turn into a autocross monster but the lowest I've found was 900 bucks.

Oh I'm serious. Gotta have a dealer's lic. to get 'em but there's plenty here. Granted for that price they all need some kinda work but just about every week I'll see 10 or so sell for around $200 and actually drive across the block.

I saw the Scions at the NAIAS in January. I haven't driven one, but they definitely have an innate character that I dig.

I'm glad there are 'youth-oriented' alternatives to the Pontiac Sunfire.

Oh, and I echo Bob's feeling towards Toyotas. That immediately makes me trust the product.

No I just work at the world's largest auto auction. I'm only allowed to buy one car a year from here. No offense but I definately wouldn't waste it on a $200 Neon beater esp. when I'm keeping my eyes open for a nice SVX w/o a tranny. Gotta do my best to keep pace.
