How can I tell the front diff is going bad???
Just got a 94 lsi with seems to have front differential problem(click and hup every 1/4 tire rotation) I expected to see a lot of metal pieces and shavings when draining the gear fluid out, but to my supprise, I didnt see any metal pieces and aveage amount of shavings on the drain plug.
my questions are 1)Can the click and hup(doesnt matter if I go straight or making turns) be the bad front axles? 2)Both axles look different. Maybe from different brand name. Is this a bad sign? 3)How can I tell the axles are bad after remove them from car? 4)Are broken axles common in SVXs? 5)Can the bad/broken front differential NOT produce any metal pieces from the gears? Thanks for the help!
