Door doesn't close completely
Any ideas why it would stay open just a crack?

Tony, how long has this been going on? They just don’t change after 20 years for no reason. Are all the gaskets and door seals in there proper position? When you press on the door from the outside, does it move slightly with pressure or is there a firm resistance? Does your “door ajar” light on the dash come on? I am assuming nothing is loose because you are not mentioning any rattling. The striker plate would have to slide outwards for the door to stay not quite closed. Any movement you can detect. Wind noise from wearherstripping not sealing? .

It is a new development. Seals seem ok. I get wind noise and rubber squeaking from the door near my ear. The door will push in slightly with firm force. I'm thinking a mm or two. The plastic coating on the strike (I think that is the strike) is pretty shot but that coating is pretty thin to start with so I am not sure that is causing the problem.

Can you open the door and window section of the FSM?

Thanks. I will give that a try this weekend. I also now need to replace my antenna for the third time in less than 8 years!!! I keep forgetting to turn off the radio when I go into a car wash. And my moonroof is leaking now too so I need to look into that. Ugh!

Did you ever find a door striker with the plastic intact? Might fell off as well.

Mine is intact and in good shape. I just brushed on a couple of coats of the plasti dip rubber coating for tool handles on my pearlie’s striker. Whoever it wears, peel it off and add another coat. .

I moved the striker plate all the way back. It looks like the door may still not be closing fully but it is better. My son drove it to school this morning so I will hear from him later on the wind noise. If that is gone, I may stick with this and use some Teflon grease on the striker. If not, I will buy some new plates.
