Transmision do not shift up
Can this problem come from the TCU or is it because of a worn out tranny (the transmision oil is quite black)?
What do the solenoid valve to the function? What are the different input sigal to the TCU. Can anyone tell me how this thing work. Where can I get a wiring diagram and a workshop manual?

Welcome to our club, Lars. You may be our first Swedish member. Unfortunately, if the tranny fluid is truly black, I don't give it much hope for survival. Perhaps others here can offer more encouragement. How long have you owned the car?
Ron.

Greetings Lars,
The problem could come from thw TCU but this is not likely to be the cause of your problem. Please try and post more detailed information regarding what is happening as there are several here who will be able to assist. Do not concern yourself regarding any language problem as we will work out what you say. It would take many words and a lot of time to tell you exactly how the transmission operates but if you keep posting regarding your problem I am sure all here will do there very best to help you. Regards from way down under, Trevor. P.S. My son has a Swedish partner. You are nice people.

The tranny fluid is truly black with a little sight of red. I bought the car in Germany some weeks ago with defect transmision and cracked windshield.

About the tranny, I bought the car with a defect transmision short time ago and drove it only about 2 km in first gear before I demounted the tranny. I could ´t get the power light to flash when I went through the test (self diagonostic). It has gone 150 000 km (about 90 000 miles) Regards

Hi again Lars,
It is a pity that you did not enqire here before removing the transmission from the car as we could have suggested checks you could have made to rule out the TCU and associated items. But it is most likely to be a fault within the transmission itself. Are you going to attempt to carry out repairs yourself ? If so give us an idea of your mechanical experience. There are members here who have done their own complete overhaul replacing faulty components as required.

Hi Lars, and welcome.
I have had a bad transmission recently myself. The Subaru shop manuals are very good in explaining theory and troubleshooting of the tranny. Du behov till veta exakt vad den symtom är och när den er inträffa. spjäll position RPM , vilken redskap etc. Där de/vi/du/ni är flera folk på den här ta upp på en lista den där vill hjälp du. Kollidera. I HAVE GOT TO KNOW! how close it is... Lars? how does it look? Gerden verden Birden Buderden! I lernt it all from the swedish chef on Sesame Street! |

WW111, is your transmission fixed yet. If so, who did the work and about how much did it cost?

The tranny is aparantly repaired... Butches Transmissiona and automotive repair on 7th north did the work. It is a long story and they charged me $3500 for the initial repair. It has been back to them twice. They do have a 3 year warantee, but it's a pain to use it.

Better late than never I will try to find a manual from a Subaru shop here in Sweden. The transmision is demounted from the car but not fixed yet. Nice to see you have some knowledge to swedish. English speaking people must have difficulties with " de/vi/du/ni/oss" and " den/det/de/" Lars

I have no knowledge of Swedish AT ALL.
I translated my reply with http://www.foreignword.com/Tools/transnow.htm I guess it must have worked OK. It will be difficult to troubleshoot the transmission while it is out of the car. There are many external factors that can cause problems.

Your first post in this thread as above indicates that you would like to have some basic information regarding how the transmission functions. If this is so I suggest you go to a site available on the net, ÒHow Stuff WorksÓ. Google will I am sure find it for you. You will find moving drawings and data there which is excellent.
