svx on TV

While flipping through the Boob tube I came across some odd ball flick.
One bad guy trying to get away....

He runs for his getaway car. Jumps in and SPins off. tossing and throwing the car around curves and bla blah blah...

it was a early SVX Pearly!!

Movie: National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon I .. It was just a short short scene, but it's There none the less.
Happy Drive'n
SVX1999

Appearently he didn't have any transmission Woes..
I had always wondered what an SVX looked like in a side spin.
however I think you heard more of the Engine being stomped then you actually saw of the car... Thought I would pass this on

Am I the only one who shudders at the thought of the wheel bearings?

No the SVX doesn't normally do that. It will push instead of hang the tail out like that. At least that's what I noticed when I tried my luck with autocross last year.

I didn't think AWD vehicles could on a solid surface. Perhaps that wasnt an AWD model? Or perhaps there was a decent amount of gravel/water on the road. I know for a fact it's possible to do that on a wet surface with an AWD subaru...

It was the only scene, and I believe it was completely out of context.

Watch the rear wheels through the turn, there is definitely a little hand brake action going on there...

Punch the gas while going into the turn. That will kick the tail out.

Don't get it

I don't get it. 1 second the guy is holding a gun with both hands saying something. Immediately afterwards, he's holding a bear or something running after the SVX.

As for the handbrakes, wouldn't the rear wheels have locked-up during that move? It looks like the rear wheels are turning the whole time throughout the whole manuever.
