Re: If you came into some play money, what would you buy

How about a Porsche 968 - the very best in the four cyl front engine lineage? It's the best budget Porsche ever.

Or a Honda S2000.... it revs to 9000 rpm

OK that leaves the DeLorean since it is mostly stainless steel and plastic as the only car I know or to be rot proof, an aluminium audi, anything made of steel will rot unless measures are taken throughout its life to prevent it.

Lets just say that we should be pretty much debt free and have some major projects around the house done even with the "make me smile toy". I'm not planning on visiting any new Exotic dealers or buying a freaking golf car for the highway.

This is now on the short list.

Personally I like the 944 for simplicity and handling. My Triumph revs past 9k and has aboutthe same torque as a s2000.

Both 8 series are maint. nightmares and too complex for me to warrant. Love the car o death but...

Biggest problem with the XK is the freaking BMW crap tranny they came with. Same reason I ended up with the XJR over an 8. The Rs come with a Merc. sourced tranny which is durable and costs less an 1/8th of the bmw 8k to replace.

Re: If you came into some play money, what would you buy

I personally would get an 850csi from germany... active rear-wheel kinematics with 200mph autobahn capabilities.. so sexy. True, maintainence is a ***** (like needing a battery tender if you don't Use it for two weeks, dead battery means buying new bmw battery) but we _are_ on an svx forum lol unrealistic amounts of maintainence is something we r used to The 8 series is like the german svx... same deal where bmw spent redunkalous money designing a car that didn't sell... just me although probably not a street parker

Is it just me or is it odd that there is no B-pillar?

Re: If you came into some play money, what would you buy

Knowing your passion for British cars, why not the XJS fixed head coupe with a 6, instead of a 12? Dual headlight model of course. I'm not sure about parking anything on the street besides a pick'm'up.
I very much miss my 1958 XK150 FHC and 1964 XKE roadster.
