SIA Expansion
Subaru of Indiana Awards Contract for $75 Million Expansion at Automotive Assembly Plant
SUGAR LAND--August 7, 2012--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Subaru of Indiana Automotive Incorporated (SIA) (Lafayette, Indiana) has awarded the general contractor construction contract to Steinberger Construction Company (Logansport, Indiana) for the $75 million expansion planned at the existing Lafayette Assembly Plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Plans include expanding the existing 3-million-square-foot 140,000 vehicle-per-year assembly plant by constructing a 52,000-square-foot building addition with the installation of new robotic equipment. The expansion will allow the company to increase North American demand for Sabaru's vehicles by increasing production capacity of Outback and Legacy models to 180,0000 vehicles-per-year. The expansion is expected to create 100 new jobs, which adds to the existing 3,600 workers currently employed at the plant.

I'm an hour away and would love to work there though I have nothing much to bring to the table aside from IT stuff and that's not exactly why I would want to be there to begin with.
