Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

she does pull to the left hard, so i think she may need alignment tire pressure matched by the sheetz pump.

no prob subeman, just didnt think if it.

i want to make sure Vexine is a good safe car, like i do scubert.

Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

My local NAPA had the end links for approx. the same price as the e-bay ones, but they sell them individually ($20.00 each). Full details in my post on the other forum

Well that is not too bad . Is it a big job to replace them without a lift.

Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

Not too bad, I did it by jacking up 1 side and putting it on a jack-stand, The hardest part was getting the nuts off. I had to zip-cut one of them since I rounded it off It really is as simple as:
1) jack up the car (and support it safely)
2) remove wheel
3) remove 2 nuts (the hardest part as they are probably rusted on) and take old one out
4) put the new one in, tighten 2 nuts
5) put wheel back on
6) lower the car
7) repeat on other side.

sounds easy, i had the driver side off when i checked the brakes for inspection, they passed.

in my case is will be
(minor alterations)

1) drive svx onto lift
7) No Repeat for jacking

Lift is awesome except when you do trans jobs, its an old-school 1 cylinder.

Do you have to worry about environmental concerns with those? I've heard that it's pretty common for the to leak hydraulic fluid into the surrounding ground. I was looking to buy an old Dodge dealership a few years ago, but passed because it had originally had these types of lifts, and the seller couldnt provide a clean environmental study.

Re: Vexine: 1992 SVX

i have a center post lift at the shop i'm at now. it's been in the ground for nearly fifty years and never lost any fluid. the newer ones tend to use mineral based oils in case it leaks. when people talk about them leaking it is usually from one cylinder to the other as in they leak down. if you leave a heavy car on it overnight it might not be as high as when you left it.

Harbor freight sells some nice lifts in the $2,500 to $3,000 range thinking about getting one.

in that price range you can buy a name brand lift like a bendpak or a rotary if you can find a good deal. i am currently pricing lifts myself and would never walk under a car on a harbor freight lift.
